Peonies are delightful flowers that are quite popular and especially seen in wedding flower arrangements. Peonies are available in different shades of pink as well as white, coral, burgundy, and pale yellow.

Peonies can be obtained throughout the year. However, the best time of the year to obtain peonies is from about early April to mid July (note that peony availability during this period may vary from year to year depending on the severity of the winter and other factors). During this time of the year, peonies are more economically priced and their heads tend to be relatively full. At other times of the year, the market price for peonies is not as competitive and their heads tend to be much smaller in size (about the size of a golf ball or a bit bigger before they bloom).

Generally, peonies tend to bloom quite quickly and so their life span is not as long as most other flowers. Perhaps for this reason and the fact that they look quite stunning when at their peak, they are a great choice in wedding flower arrangements where their wonderful appearance needs to be maintained for just the big day.

Power Flowers obtain peonies during most of the spring season and into early summer. Outside of this period, we recommend against purchasing peonies due to high market prices and the fact that peony heads tend to be disappointingly small.
