Back to Flowers
Tulips are lovely flowers that are available in a wide range of colours and colour combinations. Tulips are typically associated with the spring season, but depending on a number of factors,
tulips can also be obtained during the other seasons of the year. If there is sufficent demand, tulips are sometimes made available to buyers during all four seasons of the year.
When purchased from suppliers, tulips heads are usually closed. However, over a short period of time, the petals of a tulip head open in much the same way that a satellite opens after being deployed in space.
In addition, one will also notice that the tulip stem slightly elongates as the head goes from closed to open.
The most common type of tulips feature petals that have smooth outer surfaces. However, one can also obtain parrot tulips. The petals for this type of tulip have a different texture with its most
distinctive feature being the ruffled edges of the petals. Note that tulip stems are flexible. When the head of a tulip is open, the weight of the head can sometimes result in the stem bending quite noticeably as the tulip ages.
When available, Power Flowers tries to maintain different colours of tulips, as they are usually a favourite any season of the year. While tulips can be combined with other
flowers in an arrangement or bouquet, a bunch of tulips in a vase with no other flowers added is also a wonderful choice that can add some colour to a room.
